Trends and standards of e-procurement
On Friday 07th May 2010, the Institute of Procurement Professionals of Uganda (IPPU) and Planet System Ltd sponsored a breakfast seminar on Standards and Trends of eProcurement. The purpose of this breakfast seminar was to help professionals keep up to date with the latest developments in eProcurement, eCommerce and systems convergence.
The event was held at Mosa Courts Hotel and it attracted 52 procurement professionals from public, private and NGO sectors.

Effective professionals in many industries have long realized the importance of gaining new knowledge, improved skills and developing personal qualities through Continuing Professional Development. In essence Continuing Professional Development is simply considered part of good professional practice.
Emphasis was put as regards to implementing the system in a standard way:
There is need for various stakeholders to come up and set standards that will be followed when implementing the system.
The standards set should be able to address both the local as well as the international markets. Stakeholders such as the

? UNBS
? PPDA
? Register of Providers
? Professional Institutions
Mr. Mpaata concluded by explaining the role of IPPU in the seminars.
As a professional body IPPU can;
? Conduct regular CPDs as regards e-procurement to enrich member capacity
? Set up e-procurement learning centers
